For close to 30 years, the partners of Capstan Advisors have been in
leadership positions in the corporate real estate industry as portfolio
managers, service providers and consultants. That experience has taught
us many lessons, the most important of which is that corporate real
estate is first and foremost a people business.
Portfolio
strategies, organization models and master services agreements do not
deliver results faster, cheaper, or better: people do. We begin every
consulting engagement by understanding the goals, objectives,
constraints, preferences and capabilities of our clients. We then
tailor our solutions to the fit the individuals that will ultimately be
responsible for delivering the results.
Sometimes, when a company feels it “can’t get there from here,” new or
additional talent is needed to implement the solution. If a third party
outsourcing model is the best course of action, we design and create
partnerships that align the interests of the client and service
providers to build win-win relationships for long term success.
At Capstan, we have rigorous methodologies, tools and templates for portfolio strategy, organization design and outsourcing process management from our experience working for many Fortune 100 companies. But our approach still emphasizes the people aspect of change management. For example, our outsourcing process methodology features Joint Design Sessions where we bring client teams together with prospective suppliers to work through potential staffing models, technology solutions, innovations in cost management, governance structures, key business terms, etc. These sessions not only result in better proposals, they help clients evaluate the cultural fit between organizations and people.
We are always there for our clients. Our engagements can include a formal “check-up” where we evaluate and report on the results of the implemented solution and recommend changes as needed, or we call or make periodic visits to discuss progress, industry trends and best practices that may be a good fit.
